BAPTISM PREPARATION CLASSES AVAILABLE
Yizong Xie

Somewhere between two Palestinian seas, Jesus stepped into the waters of the river Jordan and was baptized. Somewhere in the hills of western Pennsylvania, during the summer of 1812, Alexander Campbell, along with his wife, mother, and father, stepped into the waters of Buffalo Creek and were immersed in baptism.

Through baptism into Christ we enter into newness of life and are made one with the whole people of God. If you or your children have the calling to be baptized, please let your church family know. We will have a series of classes ready to prepare your baptism and arrange the time of your baptism.

Chili Cook-off & Silent Auction
MAY 18, 6:00 PM

Sunday, May 18, the youth will be hosting a Chili Cook-off and Silent Auction that will be one of our main fundraisers for our mission trip this summer. It promises to be a really fun evening complete with great food, healthy competition (both in the chili and for the silent auction prizes), and even some great music & skits to distract us from who is sneaking off to outbid you in the parlor again. Mark your calendars and start guarding your secret recipes!

MEALS ON WHEELS

Did you know RCC delivers two routes each week for Meals on Wheels? We can use some extra volunteers. If you are interested in driving one day a month or only occasionally, we'd welcome you to our group. For more information, call the church office and leave your name and number.

HOME COMMUNION

If you would like to receive Communion at home or in the hospital, or know someone who would, please contact the church office so that we can add you to the Home Communion schedule. It will be our blessing to share this holy rite with you.

TAI CHI Classes

Tai Chi classes are being offered for men and women every Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in Fellowship Hall. These gentle, non-impact movements will be of great benefit, helping with your balance, strength, flexibility, and sense of well-being. We encourage you to come and bring a friend. Our instructor is Dan Schoppe. There is a sign-up sheet in the church foyer. The cost is $16 per month.

TWO MEMBERS OF RIDGLEA'S CHURCH FAMILY IN THE NEWS
(Disciples World, April 2008)

Allison Lanza
  Allison Lanza

ALLISON LANZA, a member of Vine Street Christian Church in Nashville, Tenn., was one of 10 recipients of a Church World Service (CWS) scholarship to attend Ecumenical Advocacy Days, a gathering of peace and justice activists in Washington, D.C.

Lanza is a student at Vanderbilt Divinity School and Vanderbilt's Disciples Divinity House. She helped organize the Nashville CROP Hunger Walk for the past two years. CROP Walk events support both local anti-hunger organizations and the work of CWS.

Rebekah Cypert
  Rebekah Cypert

REBEKAH CYPERT came to Bethany College because of her faith. When she arrived from Texas, she felt an instant connection with Bethany. For starters, we're the birthplace of her church, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). An art major, Rebekah finds time for nurturing body and soul with lots of activities. She's the first to say Bethany has helped her grow as an artist, a friend and a leader. And just as important, she kept the priority on her spiritual life.
